Ananta is a reading, reflection and practice app. It is designed to work without an account and without sending
what you read, feel or practise to anyone.

## What the app keeps, and where

Ananta keeps the following **on your phone**:

- the verses you save, and which verses you have read;
- the personal notes you write on verses;
- your Jaap counts, meditation sessions and reading sankalps (with dates);
- your settings (language, theme, notification times);
- the feelings or needs you choose on the Home screen, kept as a private history in Journey and used to pick verses for you.

There is **no account, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking SDK** in the app. Reading, mood, Jaap and meditation
data is never sent to the developer or to any third party by the app.

## Backups

- **Android phone backup.** If you have phone backup turned on, Android may keep an encrypted copy of the app's data in
  your own Google account and restore it on a new phone. This is handled by Google under your Google account settings.
  The developer never receives this copy and cannot read it. You can turn it off in your phone's settings.
- **Your own backup file.** In More, "Backup and restore" saves one file wherever you choose. The app does not upload
  it. You decide where it goes and who can see it.

## Notifications

The daily verse is created and scheduled **on your phone**. No server is involved. You choose whether it is on, the
times, and whether it appears on the lock screen. You can turn it off at any time in the app or in your phone settings.

## Lock screen wallpaper

If you choose "Set today's verse as lock screen", the app creates a picture of the verse on your phone and sets it as
your lock screen wallpaper through Android. Before the first change, the app keeps a copy of your previous lock screen
picture inside the app, on your phone, if your phone allows it or if you pick one for it to keep, so it can put it back
when you turn the feature off. Otherwise it opens your phone's own wallpaper chooser. Nothing leaves your phone.

## Permissions the app asks for

- **Notifications:** to show the daily verse, only when you turn it on.
- **Vibrate:** for Jaap, meditation and a gentle end-of-session buzz.
- **Receive boot completed:** to set the daily verse alarm again after your phone restarts.
- **Set wallpaper:** only if you use the lock screen verse.

## Advertising

The app shows no advertisements and contains no advertising or analytics software. It does not use your advertising ID.

## Children

Ananta is intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone.

## Your choices

You can delete everything the app keeps by clearing its data in your phone settings or by uninstalling it. Because
nothing is stored on a server by the developer, there is nothing further to delete.

## Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the same address with a new effective date.

## Content

The Sanskrit texts are in the public domain. Hindi, Hinglish, English, Assamese, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil and Telugu translations in the app are drafted with the
help of AI and are marked in the app as AI drafts until a human reviewer has checked them.
